NCLA is piloting direct fundraising campaigns for three Title I North Carolina school libraries. Why? Because our alumni and friends that are school librarians have reported that many Title I schools are not prioritizing their school libraries and some of the poorest children in our communities do not have access to any books! Collections are on average over 15 years old and most of these children do not have many books at home or parents who are in the position to take them to the public library.

So, we have decided that instead of arguing the merits to the obvious connection between reading for entertainment, literacy, love of reading, academic achievement, etc. we are going to start trying to expand the universe of those who could donate beyond the economically distressed parents of these schools to all of us. Please consider buying just one book for one or all three of the schools below and/or also donate a small amount to their GoFundMe fundraising pages. Most importantly, promote these links to your social media friends and spread the word:

Investing in our children is an investment in the future prosperity of their lives and our nation as a whole.
